SOME SERIOUS LESSON GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL HAVE TO LEARN AWAY FROM HIS FANCY EDUCATION.

Politics

In trying to belittles the accomplishment of his predecessor, now Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district at the red chamber of the national assembly, HE, Senator Godswil Obot Akpabio, Governor Udom described the Godswil Akpabio International Stadium and many other accomplishment of the former Governor a “MONUMENT”,  many educated people in the state and outside thought the Governor, who came from the banking/investment institution and should know better what is and what is not a monument,

If there is any crash lesson for Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state to learn right now, it is the lesson of distinguishing between what constitute a monument from what doesn’t, irrespective of his fancy and proud education from wherever. Of course we are aware of the fact that education in Nigeria, most especially some institutions regarded as “prestigious” academic institutions have often been overrated, with the simple obvious fact that most of the graduates from these “schools” hadn't been able to replicate the “prestigiousness”, “elitesness” of such schools in term of knowledge and contribution to the development of society, instead they contribute to our woes.

When in the run to the recently concluded 2019 general election, the governor of Akwa Ibom state in trying to play politics/belittles the accomplishment of his predecessor, now Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district at the red chamber of the national assembly, HE, Senator Godswil Obot Akpabio, described the Godswil Akpabio International Stadium and many other accomplishment of the former Governor a “MONUMENT”,  many, educated people in the state and outside thought the Governor, who came from the banking/investment institution and should know better what is and what is not a monument, didn't know what he was saying. Many however, concluded he was just playing to the gallery. A monument can be said to be a wide elephant projects or structures that has no direct or indirect economic or social benefit to the people or government. With this layman definition, the stadium, among many others, which the Governor labeled as MONUMENT cannot be said to be a MONUMENT, with the UEFA champion league, the NFA and many other notable national and international bodies choosing to come to Akwa Ibom because of the stadium and other infrastructures initiated by Akpabio due to his vision for the state, the Governor, who was on ground to welcome the representative of the Europe and world elite football should swallow his pride and take those lessons.

Education, most especially the higher institution is supposed to equip her acquirer with in-depth analytical skill, and every other skill and the ability to identify, create and grow opportunities to the betterment of the society. while this remain true of every other clime, so cannot be said of the Nigerian environment, as politics, lack of good-will, unhealthy competition, vindictiveness, self-seeking, and lack of patriotism have permeated our sense of reasoning, to the extent “supposedly” educated people have become moronic mediocres, and as a result, the society is suffering for it.
