In his part, the Chairman also pleaded with the two Commissioners to consider constructing car park to eased traffic congestion in the market, toilets and convenience, as well as other facilities that would enable the market function at optimum capacity and up to standard.
Responding, the two Commissioners who spoke separately promised to look into the request in line with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s development agenda for the state. They also appreciated the lawful conduct of the traders and advised them to always keep their environment clean, as well as not to relent in their continuous support for the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel as the only alternative to the development of Akwa Ibom State. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Iniobong Esien in his magnanimity offered an excavator to the market to ease the removal and clearing of gutters in the market.
The traders, who had had wind of the Commissioners’ visit on Sanitation day were not left behind, as they came out in their numbers to observed the monthly sanitation exercise, as well as welcome the Commissioners. The traders also appreciated Barrister Onuk for banning street trading, which used to be a menace for the market.
